Guide to Triangle, VA

A small, residential community mostly known for its close proximity to the MCB Quantico, Triangle is located in Prince William County, Virginia. Surrounded by many parks and the Potomac River, this neighborhood provides plenty of recreational activities and direct access to DC via I-95 or an Amtrak station.
North of Marine Corps Base Quantico
Triangle is bounded by Fuller Road to the south, Quantico Creek to the east and north, and I-95 to the west. Dumfries sits directly north of the neighborhood while beyond that is Montclair and Dale City. The Prince William Forest Park dominates the surroundings towards the west, MCB Quantico surrounds the park and the community to the south and southwest, and the Potomac River is to the east, which is also the Virginia-Maryland state line. Neighborhoods like Stafford, Woodbridge, and Woodbridge are also a short drive away.
National Museum of the Marine Corps
This historical museum on the United States Marine Corps is located on Jefferson Davis Highway in Triangle, Virginia. It is one of the top tourist attractions in the state while the museum has also announced major expansion plans that will include more sections like the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing. Current exhibits on the Vietnam War, Korean War, and World War II are all eye-catching displays, while a statue of a horse and the photosphere are kind on the eyes. The museum includes class rooms, a gift shop, a bar, a restaurant, a playground, and a laser shooting range. Its iconic exterior design can be viewed from I-95 and is meant to evoke the image of the flag raisers of Iwo Jima.
Quantico Amtrak & Other Forms of Transportation
Quantico Amtrak station is within close range and services Richmond and DC. The station is also serviced by the OmniLink commuter bus connector which makes stops near Triangle. I-95 and Route 1 both run through the town and provide the majority of traffic flow within Triangle and the state. Driving either northbound or southbound on either of these major roads will lead you to neighborhoods like Dale City, Woodbridge, Stafford, and Fredericksburg. I-95 is especially bombarded with drivers who plan on visiting DC or Baltimore, with the former around a 30 minute drive depending on when you leave your house.
Wonderful Housing Opportunities
The community of Triangle consists of many housing opportunities like detached homes, townhouses, and apartment buildings. Many of these developments are newly constructed while the area also provides some lots for sale which allows for endless opportunities when constructing a dream home. Triangle is mostly rural with many homes surrounded by a wooded environment. Architectural styles that are commonly seen include split-levels, colonials, cape cods, ranchers, and ramblers.
Potomac Mills Mall
Since the neighborhood is mainly residential, you must travel beyond its boundaries to enjoy a plethora of shopping and dining establishments. The closest location for such things is the Potomac Mills Mall located in nearby Dale City. It is located off of I-95 and occupies over 225 stores and services with 22 of them anchor stores. Some popular stores include Nordstrom, Marshalls, Costco, Sears, T.J. Maxx, Nike Factory Store, and H&M to name a few.
Across the street from the mall are famous shops like IKEA, Michaels, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Value City Furniture, and Chuck E. Cheese’s and Laser Quest for entertainment. The mall features a food court, but for a great dining experience go to Bahama Breeze. This laid-back chain eatery features Caribbean entrees and tropical cocktails amid beachy decor. Al Zaytoun Kabob & Grill is located on Smoketown Road and is an informal eatery serving Middle Eastern dishes, including chicken, beef, and lamb kabobs plus lunch and dinner buffets. The Bungalow Alehouse is a more relaxed environment that is located on Prince William Parkway. This spot provides a range of pub fare and tap beers from a sports bar equipped with pool tables, dartboards, and many TVs. Other notable restaurants around the mall include The Cheesecake Factory, Charbroil Grill Brazilian Steakhouse, and Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill.
Prince William Forest Park
Locust Shade Park is a wonderful neighborhood park located just south of Triangle on Locust Shade Drive. This sprawling park offers plenty of trails, mini-and regular golf, batting cages, and a lake with boat rentals. The park is just south of the aforementioned National Museum of the Marine Corps and also provides playgrounds and areas for fishing and other water sports. Little Creek Stream is another nearby location for great water activities while towards the southwest of the neighborhood lies Forest Greens Golf Club. This excellent course is in great condition and is surprisingly reasonable. Tee-time should come often, but can wait as the area also provides a restaurant and a bar.
Prince William Forest Park is neatly placed towards the west of the neighborhood and is a sprawling natural terrain with miles of scenic walking and bike riding trails, plus cabins for camping. Other nearby green spaces includes Chopawamsic Backcountry Area, Patawomeck Park, and Leesylvania State Park.
The community of Triangle is situated between the Prince William Forest Park and the Potomac River. The area provides some wonderful housing while its close location to a major mall, an Amtrak station, and Washington, DC are just other reasons why many enjoy living in Triangle.
